Cognitive Behavioural Therapy (CBT) in East Kilbride

CBT is a practical, structured approach that looks at how your thoughts, feelings and behaviour are connected. Rather than focusing only on the past, it helps you understand what’s keeping a difficulty going now, and build ways to manage it.

We offer cognitive behavioural therapy in East Kilbride, with sessions also arranged across Glasgow, or online anywhere in Scotland. Sessions are £50 for fifty minutes, evening appointments are available, and there’s no waiting list.
You might recognise this if…
Your thoughts spiral before you can catch them
Worry follows you into daily tasks that used to feel simple
You avoid situations because of how they might make you feel
You’ve tried to “just get on with it”, but the pattern keeps returning

How CBT works

CBT works from a straightforward observation: thoughts, feelings, physical sensations and behaviour are connected, and they feed each other.
Something happens. You interpret it. That interpretation produces an emotional and physical response. That response shapes what you do next — and what you do next usually confirms the original interpretation. That’s why these patterns are so stubborn.
The work isn’t about deciding your thoughts are wrong. It’s about noticing that the first interpretation is rarely the only one available, and that the behaviour it produces often keeps the problem alive.

STEP 1

You reach out.

The first is mostly about getting a clear picture — what brought you here, how long it’s been going on, and what a typical difficult day looks like. Specific, recent detail is more useful than a life history.

STEP 2

A short conversation.

After that, sessions follow a loose structure: what’s most useful to cover, something specific to work through, and something to take away.

STEP 3

Your first session.

How many sessions you need depends on what you’re working through. Some difficulties respond in six to eight; others take longer. We’ll agree a starting plan after your first session and review it as we go, rather than committing you to a fixed course upfront.

No. CBT is used for a wide range of difficulties including low mood, worry, stress, sleep and patterns of avoidance. If you’re unsure whether it’s right for you, the first conversation is a good place to ask.
