This page covers how your information is handled, how confidentiality
works, and what happens if you need to cancel.

Privacy

This notice explains what personal information The Tuesday Chapter
collects, why, who else handles it, and what your rights are.

Who we are

The Tuesday Chapter is run by Stephen Knox, The Greenbank Rooms,
1 Redwood Crescent, East Kilbride, G74 5PA. Stephen is the data
controller for the information described here. For anything relating
to your data, contact hello@thetuesdaychapter.com.

What we collect

  • If you use the contact form:
your name, email address, phone number if provided, preferred
    contact method, and any message.
  • If you register interest in a workshop:
your name, email address, which workshop, and whether you’re
    an individual or an organisation.
  • If you subscribe to our emails:
    your email address.
  • If you contact us by phone, text or WhatsApp:
your number and anything you choose to tell us.
  • When you visit the website:
we don’t use tracking cookies or analytics that identify you.
Our website host keeps standard technical logs, such as the
date and time of a visit, used only to keep the site running
    securely.

Information about your health

Enquiries sometimes include information about your mental or physical
health. This is a special category of personal data under UK data
protection law, and we treat it with particular care.

Where you choose to share it, we rely on your explicit consent,
and use it only to respond to your enquiry. You don’t need to share
any health information to get in touch.

How we use it

  • To respond to your enquiry and, if you’d like, arrange a first conversation or appointment.
  • To tell you about a workshop you’ve registered interest in.
  • To send occasional emails, if you’ve subscribed.

We never sell your information, never share it for marketing,
and never add enquiries to our mailing list.

Our lawful basis

  • Responding to an enquiry:
taking steps at your request before any agreement to work together.
  • Health information shared in an enquiry:
    your explicit consent.
  • Workshop interest and emails:
your consent, which you can withdraw at any time.

Who else handles it

We use a small number of service providers, who process information
on our behalf and are bound by UK data protection law:

  • our email provider, which receives and stores enquiries
  • our website host
  • our email newsletter service, for subscribers only

If you contact us by WhatsApp, your messages are end-to-end encrypted,
but WhatsApp is operated by Meta, which processes them under its own
terms. If you’d rather not use WhatsApp, please email or call instead.

Where it’s held

Enquiries sent through the website are emailed directly to Stephen
and are not stored on the website itself.

How long we keep it

  • Enquiries that don’t lead to working together:
    deleted within twelve months.
  • Mailing list:
    until you unsubscribe.
  • If you become a client:
your records are handled as set out in your client agreement,
which you’ll receive before your first session.

Cookies

This website doesn’t use tracking or advertising cookies, so you
won’t be asked to accept any. If that ever changes, this notice
will be updated and you’ll be asked for your consent first.

Your rights

You have the right to access the information we hold about you,
to have it corrected or deleted, to restrict or object to its use,
to receive a copy in a portable format, and to withdraw consent
at any time. To exercise any of these, email
hello@thetuesdaychapter.com. We’ll respond within one month.

Complaints

If you’re unhappy with how your information has been handled,
please tell us first so we can put it right. You also have the
right to complain to the Information Commissioner’s Office at
ico.org.uk or on 0303 123 1113.

Changes to this notice

This notice may be updated. The current version will always be

Confidentiality

What you can expect

What you bring to a session stays between you and your therapist.
Protecting that is a core professional obligation, not a courtesy.

Stephen Knox is a member of the British Association for Counselling
and Psychotherapy (BACP) and works to BACP’s Ethical Framework for
the Counselling Professions, which sets clear standards for how
client information is handled.

In practice, that means information about you is actively protected
from unauthorised access or disclosure, and that you’re told in
advance about anything that limits that — rather than finding out
afterwards.

Who else is involved

Very few people. It’s worth being specific about who they are.

  • Your therapist.
    The person you meet with.
  • A clinical supervisor.
All ethically practising therapists discuss their work in
regular supervision. This is a professional requirement, and
exists to keep the quality and safety of the work under review.
Supervision is itself confidential, and you are not identified
    by name.
  • Nobody else,
unless you ask us to, or unless one of the circumstances below applies.

The limits of confidentiality

There are a small number of situations where confidentiality
may need to be broken:

  • where there is a serious risk of harm to you or to another person
  • where information relates to the safety or protection of a child, or an adult at risk
  • where disclosure is required by law, or ordered by a court
  • where specific legislation requires it, including certain terrorism and drug trafficking legislation

Wherever it is possible and safe to do so, this would be discussed
with you first. You’d be told what is being shared, with whom, and why.

These situations are uncommon. They’re set out here because you’re
entitled to know them before you start, not because they’re expected.

Your records

Brief notes are kept after each session. They’re factual, limited
to what’s needed for your care, and kept securely, with access
limited to Stephen.

Your client agreement, which you’ll receive before your first session,
sets out how your records are stored, how long they’re kept, and your
rights over them.

Online and telephone sessions

The same confidentiality applies to sessions held online or by phone.
Online sessions use a secure, encrypted video platform. Sessions are
not recorded.

We’d also encourage you to think about your own end: a room where you
won’t be overheard, and headphones if that helps.

Your first contact

Confidentiality applies from your first contact, not just your first
session. What you write in the enquiry form or say in a first call is
treated the same way. If you contact us by WhatsApp, our privacy
notice explains how those messages are handled.

If anything here isn’t clear

Ask before your first session. Wanting to understand exactly how your
information is handled is reasonable, and we’d rather answer it up front.

Cancellation

48 hours’ notice

We ask for at least 48 hours’ notice if you need to cancel or
reschedule an appointment. This allows the time to be offered
to someone else.

How to cancel or reschedule

Contact us by phone or email as early as you can.
07726 923364 · hello@thetuesdaychapter.com

Late cancellations and missed appointments

Appointments cancelled with less than 48 hours’ notice, or not
attended, are charged in full at the standard session rate of £50.

We understand that genuine emergencies and sudden illness happen.
These are considered individually, and the fee may be waived at
our discretion — this policy exists to make the practice sustainable,
not to penalise people for having a difficult week.

If we need to cancel

If we have to cancel or reschedule your appointment, we’ll give you
as much notice as we can and offer you an alternative time at no
additional cost.
